Abby Avery alights atop a lifeguard tower at Ocean Beach (also known as O.B.).

OB is a kind of a quiet sleepy place that time forgot… and OBecians like it that way.

Antique stores, bars, Deadheads, restaurants, musicians, activists, artists, bike and surf shops, and barking dogs dot the main drag.

The Ocean Beach Municipal Pier, which includes a restaurant and bait shop, is the longest concrete pier on the West Coast.

In OB, Halloween and New Years Eve are high holy days. The Chili Cook-Off, Christmas Parade and July 4th fireworks are also traditions.

Joined the San Diego Ballet

• 2005

This is Abby’s 5th season with San Diego Ballet. She has enjoyed dancing such roles as the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker and Rosamund in Romeo & Juliet.  Prior to joining the company, she danced with the Fresno Ballet for three seasons under the direction of Christopher Doyle and the Los Angeles Ballet, Montgomery Ballet and Witchita Ballet Theatre.   Abby has earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree from Friends University in Wichita, KS and she has trained with Somerset Ballet Centre, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and Miller-Marley School of Dance.  She thanks her family for being eternally supportive.
