At age 19, John had never taken a dance lesson until after seeing the movie “Swing Kids.” Swing dancing led to ballroom dancing, which led to his first jazz class, in which his jazz professor, Tony Caligagan, finally convinced him take a ballet class in his senior year at UC San Diego. Though he hated it at first and refused to wear tights for nearly 2 years, he grew to love ballet after seeing the movie “Center Stage” and even spent a 5th “Fun” year at UC San Diego to continue his dance training and earn his BA in Economics and History.

Since then, John has also performed with California Ballet, San Diego Lyric Opera, Stuttgart Ballet, Ballet Conservatory Chula Vista, San Diego Civic Youth Ballet, and is now entering his 9th season with San Diego Ballet.

John also works at LPL Financial and holds FINRA Series 6, 7, 63, 66 licenses.
