Tours
For almost two decades, San Diego Ballet has toured its company to exciting venues, small and large, all over the United States.
San Diego Ballet’s full length Nutcracker is fresh, magical, lavish, and easily tourable. The company’s professional dancers are supplemented by students from your community in the children’s roles which the company will audition, rehearse, and costume with the help of a local dance teacher.
In addition to several return engagements with the Billings Symphony, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and to Yavapai Community College in Prescott, Arizona, San Diego Ballet’s “Nutcracker” has been hosted by the Great Falls Symphony (Montana) and by theatres in Gillette, Lander, Jackson Hole, and Sheridan, Wyoming. In addition to its Rocky Mountain and Southwest tours, the company also performs “The Nutcracker” throughout San Diego County. Availability is late November through mid December.
In addition to its holiday tour production of the Nutcracker, San Diego Ballet offers several repertory programs as well:
- · Two one-act ballets with 25 dancers: a new, innovative “Alice: Wonderland” with hip-hop dancers and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (which can use local children), either of which can be programmed with “Rhapsody in Blue.”
- · a full-length “Romeo & Juliet” with 15 dancers.
- · a mixed repertoire program of “When We Have the Stars,” (music of Nat King Cole), the humorous “Arthur Murray’s Dance Secrets,“ a sultry one-act “Mambomania” (Perez Prado), and classical pas de deux.
Lecture-demonstrations, programs for young people, and master classes in various styles of dance are also available.
